Life In The Radio Shack

So my official job title here at camp is radio broadcasting instructor. The kids have 6 hour-long periods a day where they can do all sorts of skills and sports. Anything from wake-boarding or basketball to culinary arts and drama.

Radio broadcasting happens in this fine shack you see in the picture. It's a pretty good setup; it has air-conditioning and a little window where you can make requests. Every day me and Jessica (my co-host) have 6 groups of 6 kids to turn into superstar DJs.

We just get them on air and try to have some fun, play some games or do some interviews. The kids all pick songs to introduce and then at the end of the week we get them to perform a live radio drama. We found some old murder mystery scripts online from a radio show in the 1950s, comedy at it's finest. I will record some and stick them up here for a laugh.

We broadcast on 104.9 Adrenaline Rock FM, which stretches for about two miles outside of camp, so unfortunately you can't tune in!
