Learning the Lingo

If you want to be a proper Canuck then you have to master the language. Most words are the same and they even use the British spelling of words rather than American. Saying this, there are some very noticeable differences and here are a few of them.

Eh?
- Just said at the end of every sentence. "This maple syrup is good eh?"
Washroom - Canadians are very polite. If you ask where the toilet is they look at you like you're some sort of caveman.
Pylon - Traffic cone, yes crazy I know.
To "peace" - To leave a place. "Hey man, let's peace." Stems from peace out.
Pop/Candy - Fizzy Drink/Sweets.
Toque - A woolly hat.

The funniest difference is when you ask someone if they are in the "queue" for something. Example: "Is this the queue for dinner/wakeboarding/the CN tower?" They just have no idea what you are talking about. Lineup is the word you are looking for!
