Chicago

On the way to the Windy City I had my first experience of the world famous Greyhound bus! Not exactly luxury, but it gets you from A to B, and sometimes even has WiFi. On this occasion the bus driver was a jolly old man named Tim and he was hilarious!

It's funny, a lot of people I met on this trip have never ridden a bus in their lives. Because America is so spread out, everyone has a car and if you don't have a car then you are poor. Therefore there is a huge stereotype about the bus being full of crazy homeless people and you ride at the risk of death. I can confirm that is is not completely true, but there are definitely some interesting characters on board.

Anyway, I had a day to kill in Chicago before my overnight bus to Memphis. Caleb's dad knew the city well and wrote me out a great tour of the main sites.

I saw the big silver bean that you will probably recognise and ate dinner in this old hotel that the gangsters used to frequent. It was called Berghoffs and did an awesome bratwurst and a root beer.

I noticed a lot of big production trucks around the streets and it turns out they were filming the new Superman movie. I spent most of the day talking to security guys and doormen trying to find out the where the action was happening. Unfortunately there will be no cameo for Ben!
