Rosseau, ON

Camp is situated just outside a tiny little town called Rosseau. The whole area is really nice, loads of lakes and holiday homes all over the place, but this little town is the bomb. The general store is one of the oldest in Canada, built in 1874 and pretty much untouched. They seem to have everything, their motto is: "If we don't have it, you don't need it!"

There is also a noticeboard outside which makes for great reading, this one was my favourite!

Its about a 15 minute walk from camp, so on nights off we walk in and sit on the docks or get some ice-cream.

One night we walked in to see a movie that they were showing in the little community hall. We walked in late loaded with popcorn and sweets and made so much noise getting seats. After a few dirty looks the people were friendly enough and we watched 'Water for Elephants' which was alright. Good spot for sure.
While researching the age of the general store, I searched up Rosseau on Wikipedia and found this, AMAZING!

"The townsfolk and tourists of Rosseau in the late 19th century and early 20th century welcomed visitors arriving by steamboat, by singing the Rosseau Song:"

Oh we’ll sing a little song of Rosseau,
It’s the best old town that I know.
Oh you Rosseau, where the summer breezes blow,
Where the skies are the clearest and the girls that you meet are the fairest,
Oh you Rosseau, you’re the best old town that I know.
